Few places are as iconically American as Route 66.
Stretching from Illinois to California, the Mother Road continues to capture the interest of travelers from across the world today.
A Little Piece of History
A symbol of Route 66’s heyday.
The full service station was a place drivers could stop and have gas pumped for them by an attendant who performed other services such as washing the car’s windshield.
This local place of business often offered refreshments — a cold Coca Cola from a slide machine or a candy bar from a rotating machine. But most of all these service stations were places where travelers and locals stopped for area news such as sports scores and travel tips.
